Players Code of Conduct

  1. Always play by the rules;
  2. Control your temper - treat others as you would like to be treated – bullying will not be tolerated;
  3. Verbal abuse to umpires, officials or other players is not acceptable;
  4. Never argue with an umpire or official. If you disagree, discuss the matter with your coach or team manager;
  5. Co-operate, support and encourage your team-mates. Your team's performance will benefit, so will you;
  6. Respect the rights and dignity of all players regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion;
  7. Play for the "fun of it" – it’s just a game !
  8. Be a good sport.

Officials Code of Conduct

  1. • Remember that young people participate for the pleasure and winning is only part of the fun
  2. Never ridicule or yell at a young player for making a mistake or not coming first
  3. Be reasonable in your demands on players' time, energy and enthusiasm
  4. Operate within the rules and spirit of your sport and teach your players to do the same
  5. Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience.  All young people are deserving of equal attention and opportunities
  6. Avoid overplaying talented players; the just average need and deserve equal time.
  7. Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players.
  8. Display control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport.  This includes opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents, and spectators.  Encourage your players to do the same.
  9. Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players.  Follow the advice of a physician or medical professional when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition.

Parents/Spectators Code of Conduct 

  1. Remember that children play football for fun - they are not playing for your entertainment, nor are they miniature professionals.
  2. Encourage players to participate, do not force them.
  3. Focus on the players efforts - never ridicule or yell at a player for making a mistake or losing the game.
  4. Remember that players learn best from example. Applaud good play by both teams.
  5. Encourage players to always participate according to the rules and respect official’s decisions.
  6. Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches and officials.
  7. An umpire’s job is a difficult one – put yourself in their position – how would you like to be treated?
  8. If you disagree with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than questioning the official's judgement and honesty in public.
  9. Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not harassing or using foul language to umpires, players, coaches, or other spectators.
  10. Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players.
  11. Respect the rights and dignity of every player regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  12. Discuss the Codes of Conduct with your son/daughter so that you are both are aware of your obligations.
  13. Actively promote the Codes of Conduct at all times.

Please Note: Your failure to adhere to the codes of conduct may result in the withdrawal or suspension of your sons (s)/daughter(s) registration to play in the Eastern Football Netball League.
